When Sa’iyda Shabazz was a little girl, her father said she’d someday be a great a writer. Determined to become an actress, she shrugged off his suggestion. Growing up in New York City, she was surrounded by theatre and wanted to be a part of that artistic community for the rest of her life.
Years later, while attending Emerson College, she decided to combine her two loves: acting and writing. After graduation, she decided that while she loved to act, she really wanted to be a writer. So she promptly started to work on her first novel, which is currently in progress.
Sa’iyda still likes to act and has recently developed a severe addiction to Netflix®. Nothing can stop her obsession with the television show “Glee,” but that’s mainly because she wishes she were on the show. She loves to listen to music, and admits she was an active member of the late-90s pop music craze. She still hopes one day she’ll be Mrs. Justin Timberlake, but she won’t cry if it doesn’t happen (but in an ideal world…it will).
She also loves to eat her way around New York City, especially late-night waffles at diners. She says she’s got an “insufferable need for Starbucks lattes,” too. She loves going out with her girlfriends for good conversation and wine, reading fashion magazines while riding the subway and selling oversized, tasty baked goods to sugar-deprived Manhattanites.
